Historians are using #MicrosoftAI to understand art, and by extension, ourselves, better than ever before. Learn how #TheMet and partners, @Microsoft and @MIT, are transforming the way we experience art.
The Metropolitan Museum of Art houses an extensive and powerful collection of art spanning 5,000 years of human history. The museum recognizes both the responsibility and opportunity that comes with this collection and seeks to make it globally accessible, discoverable, and useful. Using AI technology, they’re providing access and connection to the museum experience to people around the world.
In February 2017, the Metropolitan Museum of Art decided to release the images and data of their public domain artwork. Their mission? To give everyone in the world the opportunity to experience and interact with their collection, not just those who could physically visit the museum. Throughout this process, technology has offered new ways to interact with and appreciate the history and culture of these items. Check out this video to learn more about The Met’s AI journey.
